Inland Fisheries Ireland is a partner in the INTERREG VA Catchment CARE project led by Donegal Co. Co.  The project is a cross-border one seeking to improve ecological quality of water (sensu Water Framework Directive-WTD) focusing on three catchments - the Finn, Arney and Blackwater. The appointee will operate in the Arney catchment to advance all of the project aims. In particular, the appointee will have a key role in community engagement activities and in facilitating instream and riparian actions and other measures that may contribute to improved ecological quality. The appointee will work with the project’s Hydromorphology Officer in the Arney in the planning and execution of management interventions. They will generate a programme of community awareness, education and networking with stakeholders. The appointee will work with the other project partners to achieve successful implementation of the range of tasks within the project. They will also network closely with the Catchment Project Officers in the Finn and Blackwater catchments.

This is a front-line leadership role and the successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in networking and communication skills with a range of stakeholders – from community groups to public authorities – in an international or cross-border context. They will also have excellence in project planning and oversight of tasks in field situations.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • A primary degree in relevant area (e.g. combined business and communications).
  • Substantial experience in working at a professional level in relevant area
  • Demonstrable experience of being a self-starter, lone-working and capacity for lone-working and long hours in non-office time lines
  • Project management experience – personnel; funds; work flows; timelines; retention of records etc.
  • Demonstrable presentation skills, development and delivery of training
  • Demonstrable capacity to network with personnel in other public authorities and the voluntary sector
  • Demonstrable experience in report writing, use of media etc.
  • Full driving licence valid in the state
