The University of Würzburg aims to install the research professorship initially for 6 years. The research professorship will currently be associated with the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology and Biometry. The professorship will represent the discipline Health Informatics at the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg in research and teaching.
The main research focus of the professorship is applied health informatic research including investigating, developing and evaluating information technological solutions within the areas clinical and health services research. The central research activities shall comprise semantic interoperability, data integration, data quality and data analytics considering complex statistical methodologies. The applicant is expected to cooperate with existing institutions and main research areas of the University and the University Hospital Würzburg such as the Comprehensive Heart Failure Centre Würzburg, the Comprehensive Cancer Centre Mainfranconia, the Interdisciplinary Bank of Biomaterials and Data Würzburg, the Centre for Rare Disease or the Transregional Network for Stroke Intervention with Telemedicine. The professorship cooperates for further developing methodologies in health informatics with the Institute of Computer Sciences, especially the Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Applied Computer Sciences. In the area of application and utilization of modern architectures of the hospital information system a close cooperation with the Service Center Medical Informatics of the University Hospital Würzburg is expected.
The applicant should have an excellent publication track and have raised significant amounts of external funds. All applicants have to fully identify themselves with the underlying research theme `Health Informatics´.
Requirements include: a university degree, a thesis (“Promotion”), "Habilitation" or an equivalent level of scientific qualification and academic teaching ability.
