Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to lead the Finance & HR Applications ICT Support Team here at Imperial College London managing a team of functional experts providing customers in Finance & HR the capacity to get maximum value in support of their business processes from a range of software products, notably Oracle e-business suite. The team provide operational support and work on IT operational and transformational projects of various size and impact.

This is an important position, suited to someone with a background in Oracle e-business suite.

To facilitate this, the job holder will ensure that;

  • Staff are managed, supported and well communicated to, in delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Strong and professional working relationships are maintained with customers, peers and suppliers alike.
  • A focus is maintained on continuous improvement

The Team leader will need a high level of management and product expertise and be a role model for championing changes to services, implementing enhancements, being an evangelist for service delivery, sharing the team’s SME knowledge and looking to exploit existing and new services to the full on behalf of the customer base.

Duties and responsibilities

You will provide overall direction and leadership to relevant teams in Finance & HR services, ensuring work is delegated to appropriate staff with the authority and responsibility to perform the work.

  • You will agree group and individual goals and overall priorities with key stakeholders ensuring progress is monitored and managed.
  • You will agree service and support levels with Finance, HR and faculties. Works across ICT departments and customer groups to ensure provision of the services to agreed service levels, standards and timescales.
  • You will ensure there are effective communications between ICT, Finance, HR departments and Faculties, Escalate problems on their behalf within ICT, if necessary, and monitor their resolution. Resolve problems in Finance & HR areas by understanding user perspectives.
  • You will.be responsible for the effective day to day operation of the support service. ensuring service levels are met and SLA’s complied with.
  • You will monitor services provided to Finance & HR customers, surveys user opinion and identify service improvements and opportunities to address changing needs and improve the appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of the service.
  • You will regularly review supplier performance, ensuring they meet their side of their service provision providing best service and value. Take remedial action when required.
  • You will co-ordinate and manage cross section teams to resolve specific or complex incidents of differing priority, with problems prioritised and resolved where necessary.
  • You will provide expert technical and professional advice and recommendations to influence decision making on product lifecycles.
  • You will advise users on functional capability of the applications and assess the feasibility and impact of proposed changes.
  • You will manage SME resource efficiently on project delivery to aid transitioning new Finance & HR applications to live support.
Essential requirements
    • Educated to degree level in a technical discipline or equivalent experi
    • Experienced in managing and developing teams.
    • Track record of excellent customer and stakeholder relationships.
    • An understanding of a range of Finance & HR work processes and key business outputs.
    • Working knowledge of the Finance & HR e-business suite schemas and forms.
    • Managing third party supplier performance levels (cloud based and hosted products).
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and clearly to both technical and business s
    • Ability to provide good customer service.
    • Natural focus on continuous improvement.
