The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Royal College of Physicians of London working together as the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians UK are seeking to recruit a Head of Quality.

The Colleges work together as the Federation to create and deliver:

  • the MRCP(UK) Diploma Examinations and Specialty Certificate Examinations (SCE’S)
  • the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) which is responsible for managing the Colleges’ role in the regulation of specialist training in the UK
  • the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Policy and Diary for Physicians

Working with the clinical and executive leadership of the Federation, the role holder will:

  • lead on the development and delivery of quality management and assessment policy for the suite of MRCP(UK) examinations;
  • take responsibility for representing Federation assessment externally at a senior level;
  • ensure the assessment function evolves in a way that remains fit for purpose;
  • respond to best practice in global assessment design and delivery.

Thereby enabling the three colleges to further influence the development of assessment policy nationally and internationally.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a solid, practical understanding of quality management principles, and experience of implementation in a relevant professional setting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the current health agenda in the UK and have experience of working at a senior level in medical education, training, or assessment.
  • Have expert knowledge of legislation relevant to the assessment policy context, e.g. Equality Act 2010, General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Have expertise in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
