We are seeking a Governance and Dean’s Office Manager to play a central role in the smooth execution of the School’s vision and strategy. The School’s governance structure comprises a School Board; five senior committees covering finance, HR, faculty and research, teaching programmes and executive education; and beyond this a range of further sub-committees for functional areas, teaching and research programmes and centres.
Working with the School’s Board and chairs of the senior committees, you will ensure that decision-making is transparent, carefully planned, and informed by robust and complete data. You will make sure that information flows effectively across the organisation and beyond to external stakeholders, and that systems are in place to track deliverables, report on compliance with legislative or regulatory requirements, and manage key business risks. In support of this, you will develop a detailed understanding of the School’s operation and the context of the wider University and business school sector, to provide advice to committee Chairs and Secretaries, forge strong internal and external networks, and ensure that linkages and dependencies are well-understood.
You will additionally ensure the smooth operation of the Dean’s Office, managing a team of four members, to provide professional support of the highest standard to the Dean and other senior officers of the School.
The ideal candidate will have experience of senior governance support and a demonstrable understanding of the factors that underpin good governance. You will have the proven capability of developing and maintaining effective working relationships and networks in a complex matrix organisation with senior stakeholders. You should also have experience of line management of professional staff to deliver excellent customer service, along with excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to tailor communications for different audiences.
