The Usher Institute, Teviot Place requires an experienced Senior Research Fellow for the management, development, and implementation of a UK Asthma Observatory and prototype for a Learning Health System (LHS) for asthma, with the aim to enable real-time visualisation of linked-data that can drive improvements in healthcare provision and outcomes. You will create and maintain a primary care database as well as collaborate with others across the UK to access, link and integrate UK-wide data assets.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, or a related discipline, with significant experience of managing, linking, analysing, and interpreting large datasets and providing strategic advice to managers. Knowledge and use of health data in academic research and the legislation and guidance for this with a strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals are also essential to the role. An understanding of asthma and clinical trials with a proven ability to secure research grant funding is desirable.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), available as soon as possible, and is fixed-term to 30th April 2019, with any extension subject to additional funding being secured.
