TIA is offering a position as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Animal Science to provide high quality learning and teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, have vision and passion for agriculture and food and undertake high-quality, collaborative research of national and international standing and impact. In the role you will:

  • Make a substantial and sustained contribution to the university and in particular, TIA, in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant postgraduate) coursework teaching of a high quality (Level B) exemplary quality (Level C) in Animal Science and associated fields.
  • Undertake high-quality research of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and successfully supervise research higher degree students to completion, in Animal Science, in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations.
  • Provide scientific extension advice to clients and stakeholders through publications, technical reports and presentations at field days, conferences and meetings relevant to animal science and associated fields.
  • Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching. (Level C)

You will be employed on a full-time ongoing basis.

To be considered, you will have:

  • A PhD in a relevant field.
  • A good (Level B) or strong record (Level C) in, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and preferably international recognition and made notable contributions to Animal Science, demonstrated by a record of quality publications, presentations at conferences and success in securing external competitive and other funding.
  • A good (Level B) or strong (Level C) portfolio in University-level learning and teaching that includes teaching practice, contemporary curriculum design and scholarship of learning and teaching.
  • A good (Level B) or strong record (Level C) of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry and wider community.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of research higher degree students.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills including experience and proven ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, research specialists and organisations. 

LEVEL B - Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,572 comprising base salary within the range of $93,711 to $111,600 plus 17% superannuation. 

LEVEL C - Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $150,401 comprising base salary within the range of $112,184 to $128,548 plus 17% superannuation.
