Seafish is seeking applications to join its new Seafish Expert Panel (SEP). The panel has been established to enhance Seafish’s role as a collaborator and facilitator across the seafood supply chain and to assist us to:
Our role, working to support the £10bn UK seafood industry, requires Seafish to work in collaboration with the seafood industry across all parts of the supply chain – from net to plate. Membership of the SEP will reflect this diversity of expertise.
The SEP will feature a central hub consisting of 3-4 members, including a chair, supported by an expert committee. At this stage we are seeking candidates to join the central hub; recruitment to the expert committee will take place in October 2018. We particularly welcome applicants with experience in one of the following fields of expertise: marine science, behavioural science, social responsibility, manufacturing & technology, policy & regulation, business strategy and marketing.
The central hub will act as the main engagement point between Seafish and the wider expert group and will provide the bridge between the needs of Seafish and the wider seafood industry, and the expert committee. Specifically the central hub of the SEP will:
The SEP hub will also have a key role in helping to deliver the science and innovation actions outlined in the English Seafood 2040 (SF2040) strategy (a copy can be found here). The chair of the SEP will be invited to join the Seafood Industry Leadership Group which has been established to deliver on the full suite of actions in SF2040.
The SEP hub is expected to formally meet three times a year. In terms of time commitments the Chair is expected to contribute up to 12 days a year while other hub members can be expected to commit up to 8 days per year. All travel and accommodation costs will be covered and candidates will secure a daily remuneration of £300 per day for the chair and a rate of £250 per day for all other members of SEP hub.
