The main goal of the Protein Expression and Purification Core Facility is to provide support to the EMBL research community regarding all types of experiments related to advanced protein expression, purification and biophysical characterization.
The most important task of the new scientific officer will be the establishment of a platform for recombinant protein expression and purification in mammalian cells. He/she will be expected to explore and optimize various methods and protocols with the aim of developing a robust and efficient pipeline adapted to the needs of our users regarding mammalian expression. Furthermore, she/he will also assist in protein expression experiments both in bacteria and insect cells and in recombinant protein purification using different chromatographic methods
The minimum requirement for this position is a degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or in a closely related scientific area. Expertise in the field of protein expression in mammalian systems is essential, experience with insect cell expression would be a plus. Teamwork, good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a varied multicultural user community are expected. Fluency in English is required.
