We have a genuinely exciting opportunity for you to join us in a senior role supporting the University to achieve excellent impact from its research. You and your team will:

  • work directly and indirectly with external organisations to facilitate economic or societal benefit from University research;
  • identify, understand, and exploit commercial opportunities arising from University intellectual property;
  • enable researchers to ensure impact opportunities arise from excellent research through early planning.

You are a natural collaborator, who looks for connections across people, ideas, and resources. Your team must work closely and collaboratively with knowledge exchange, impact, and IP experts based across the University. We must ensure that the range of support on offer to researchers to realise impact takes account of differing, faculty-specific needs and approaches to optimise the value (monetary and non-monetary) derived from University research outputs and Intellectual Property. We consider IP in its broadest sense; examples include use as leverage to secure industrial funding, as material for impact case studies, or as a way to engage in open innovation.

You will bring experience of commercialisation of intellectual property, gained in any sector. You will also have worked with investors to fundraise for commercial opportunities. Your open-minded and creative approach to identifying opportunities for impact will enable you to act as an advocate for this area, leading a team with an increasingly excellent reputation for the support and expertise it provides.

You will work closely with senior research leaders, such as the Vice-President for Research & Innovation and Faculty Directors, as well as with external investors and partners. You will also provide leadership within Research Services and more widely as a member of the senior team.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to best effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching, and student experience.
