The College of Global Studies (the study abroad division of Arcadia University, USA) is seeking candidates for the following role

The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University (based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA provides over 100 study abroad programs in 12 countries to students from over 300 institutions of higher learning in the United States. Currently, the University is ranked #1 in the USA for the number of students that study abroad through its short-term, summer, semester and full-year programs. With over 30 programs offered at UK universities, in addition to its London Centre, the College of Global Studies offers a diverse range of study abroad options, including first year programming, internships, and undergraduate research opportunities. Arcadia's London Centre is based in Bloomsbury where classes, academic programs, student life services and other forms of comprehensive support are offered to participating students.

Job Outline

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Associate Director of Student Services (ADSS) has oversight of all Arcadia University Student Support and Social programming in England & Wales, is a member of London’s Senior Management Team. The role holds primary responsibility for planning and delivering a comprehensive program of support and engagement for both center taught and direct enrol students including advising on cultural adjustment, integration into the local community, health and wellness resources, and other student life issues as necessary . With oversight from the Operations Director and the Regional Director, s/he line manages the London Student Services team.

Eligibility:

Applicants should have the right to work in the United Kingdom and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, skills and attributes.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree 
  • Unrestricted permission to work in the UK 
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience delivering support services to students 

Desirable

  • Postgraduate degree 
  • Student advice or counselling qualification 
  • Managerial experience 
  • Knowledge and experience of the international education sector 
  • Knowledge of US higher education & US students 
  • Knowledge of the Study Abroad sector
  • Experience of working with Salesforce or similar CRM software 
  • Experience of working on an “on call” out of hours basis

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity

  • Successful team leader and motivator E
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to establish an appropriate mentoring/advising relationship a with college-age students.

Conditions:

The post will require the candidate to fulfill occasional on call duties as part of a senior staff rota as well as participating in occasional out of hours activities in the evenings and at weekends.
