We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic research associate with advanced skills in epidemiology/statistics /health data science. The post holder will work with Dr Kate Fleming to develop a portfolio of work using large electronic health records, with a particular focus on reducing health inequalities. The post will contribute to a number of the department’s research themes in maternal and child health, NCD prevention and health data science, as well as contributing strategically to the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences’ priority themes. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering data management and analysis of large health databases. This post will provide opportunities to develop skills in public health epidemiology with a strong focus on health inequalities, alongside other opportunities for development in research and teaching.
You will be able and willing to take a substantial degree of responsibility for your own work, in return for the flexibility within the role to develop your own ideas. Candidates will require a BSc or equivalent, a PhD in epidemiology, statistics or equivalent, an MSc in epidemiology, public health, statistics, data science or equivalent. The post-holder should have a background in database epidemiology or data science, with proven commitment to carrying out high quality original research. A research interest in maternal and child health is a benefit. Experience of using data analysis packages such as R or Stata is essential. The post is available until 30 September 2021.
