Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Research Associate to work on a project focused on the development of a compact, low-cost CO2 capture system for use in the process industries. The system will integrate solvent-based CO2 capture using a rotating packed bed with microwave regeneration of the solvent.
You will have a good Honours Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry and have completed (or be close to finishing) a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physical Chemistry. You should be enthusiastic about doing practical work in the lab and be interested in doing research in the area of process intensification. The main responsibility of the role is to perform accurate measurements of the rate of reactive CO2 absorption in a rotating packed bed and the power consumption of the rotating packed bed system. Additionally, you will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the experiment.
Please be advised that due to a new minimum salary threshold of £30,000 per annum imposed by the UKVI, this post may not qualify for University sponsorship under Tier 2 of the points based system.
