Main Purpose of the Post

Applicants are invited for the position of Fixed Term Technology Transfer Research Fellow in the College of Engineering (SPECIFIC) to work on the SPECIFIC project to transform buildings into power stations. The aim is scaled production of solar thermal and PV products delivering the following by 2020:

  • A new billion pound manufacturing sector creating new business opportunities, significant new jobs and significant export potential
  • Generation of one third of the UK’s renewable energy requirement by 2020, 10.8 GW peak (the equivalent of 5 coal fired power stations) or 19 TWh
  • An annual saving of 6 million tonnes CO2
  • One of the strategic industrial collaborators of this project is Tata Steel UK and the aim of this fellowship is to support interlinking research on functional coatings; this will include application technologies as well as materials development for particular applications.

Applicants must have a PhD or be writing up or equivalent in Engineering, Physical Sciences or a related subject preferably with research background in system design and material evaluation coupled with the ability to interpret and disseminate process data.
