St. Patrick's College London

Location: London
Salary: £30,000 to £36,000 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent

Are you a qualified, experienced teacher or lecturer at FE and HE level with experience in delivering courses in Sports and Exercise Science?

Do you have a broader experience in industry, or an interest in engaging with the Sports and Exercise Science community and external organisations in order to provide opportunities for students?

Would you be interested in being part of a pioneering new initiative, ‘Experiential Teaching’, which has the student experience at its heart and is designed to cater specifically to adult learners from diverse backgrounds?

Would you enjoy the challenge of bringing your experience to bear within a unique, vibrant, entrepreneurial College in the City of London?

St. Patrick’s College is on a transformational journey, restructuring its existing 4 schools into two broader, more all-encompassing Departments, in the areas of Health+ and Business+ and overhauling completely the way in which it delivers its programmes to put the student experience front and centre.

We are a widening participation institution, offering a range of programmes aimed at providing students with a route into Higher Education and beyond. Our students embark on a journey which is designed to meet their academic and personal demands. At the very heart of our vision is a student-centred learning and teaching methodology which is progressive, forward-thinking, modern and designed to meet our learners’ needs.

Experiential Teaching Practitioners are modern, progressive professionals who have what it takes to motivate students from a variety of backgrounds, to inspire belief in students who are striving for professional and personal recognition and to drive students towards successful lives.

You will have a distinct skill set; a ‘can-do’ attitude - and should demonstrate the consistent ability to put the core elements of our learning and teaching philosophy into practice, both in the design of experiential teaching activities and in the delivery of high-class teaching.

The underpinning philosophy is as follows:

  • Through experiential teaching we aim to provide students with a ‘real-life’ skill set which is transferable out of the classroom and into the world of work.
  • Through ‘chunked learning’ we aim to ensure students are thoroughly engaged and motivated by their teachers.
  • Through ‘deliberate reflection’ we aim to get students thinking about their role in the learning experience and to embed their knowledge for future use.
  • Through regular and precise feedback we aim to offer students ways to improve their skills and knowledge on a daily basis.
  • Through the development of academic skills we aim to create an environment where students appreciate the need to be scholarly and to strive for higher standards in themselves.

We look forward to hearing from you if this sounds like a challenge that would inspire you.
