Are you looking for an opportunity to study optical properties of various nanomaterials, such as plasmonic nanoparticles, one-dimensional materials (e.g. carbon nanotubes, nanowires), two-dimensional layered materials (e.g. transition metal dichalcogenides), and their heterostructures for various photonic and optoelectronic applications? You'll get to conduct high quality research independently, and to work as an active member of the Photonics research group by taking part in project management duties and guiding M.Sc. students.

The Photonics research group is led by Professor Zhipei Sun, and belongs to the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering at the School of Electrical Engineering. The group mainly focuses on the study of physical properties of various nanomaterials (e.g. carbon nanotubes, nanowires, 2D materials) for photonics and optoelectronic applications. Details of the research publications can be found via this link. The group is located in the Micronova Nanofabrication Center, the largest academic clean room facility in the Northern Europe.

Your experience and skills

  • MSc degree in physics, nanotechnology, or related topics is favorable for the position
  • Good command of English

The preferred starting time of employment is before summer 2019, but this can be also negotiated. The expected starting salary is approximately 2440 €/month, and will increase according to performance over time. The contract includes occupational health benefits, holiday bonus, and Finland has a comprehensive social security system.
