The University of the West of Scotland is a leading edge modern University at an exciting stage of development. The University’s in-house Internal Audit Service seeks to support the University as it pursues its ambitious Corporate Strategy through providing independent and objective assurance, advice and insights to senior management and the University’s Court concerning the adequacy and effectiveness of its arrangements for governance, risk management, controls and securing value for money, and offering recommendations for improvements where necessary.
Following an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced and professionally qualified Senior Internal Auditor to join the Internal Audit Service. You will be responsible to the Head of Internal Audit Service for all aspects of planning, delivering, and communicating the results of audits from a risk-based programme of activities approved by the Audit & Risk Committee. All activities undertaken by the University fall within the Service’s remit and you can expect to be involved in a diverse portfolio of audits.
For this challenging, interesting and varied role, you will hold a recognised CIIA or CCAB qualification and will have progressive experience in an internal audit function within a complex organisation, including leading audit reviews. You will therefore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of audit, and will also be able to demonstrate a proven track record of adding commercial value through audit work.
An awareness of fraud and IT risk management issues is essential although in-depth knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: conducting investigations into fraud or other improprieties; data analytics; or information technology controls/cyber-security would be advantageous.
The University of the West of Scotland is committed to supporting your personal development and providing an inclusive working environment. UWS has the Athena SWAN Bronze Award, is a Disability Confident employer, and welcomes applications from under-represented groups; as such we particularly encourage applications supporting our diversity agenda.
Informal enquiries can be made to the Head of Internal Audit Service firstname.lastname@example.org
