This is a one year, fixed term position to cover maternity leave, based at the Singleton Campus

Main Purpose of the Post

The post holder will be responsible for leading a team of admissions staff ensuring outcomes are aligned to the University’s strategic aim of becoming a Top 20 University. The role holder will model leadership and lead a cohesive and influential admissions function. They will understand the imperative to meet the University’s stretching student recruitment targets in line with the University’s growth trajectories. They will identify business risks and opportunities, and provide flexible, innovative solutions that will deliver on targets. 

Role-modelling professional service they will continually evaluate their own impact, that of their team and of the overall function in order to improve as a professional and drive sustainable performance

Main Duties

  1. Operational management of an Admissions function supportive of meeting ambitious recruitment targets
  2. Provide regular performance related data analysis reports to support the University’s recruitment and conversion strategy, and which can be used to influence business planning.
  3. Support high professional standards across the University within the Admissions environment drawing on external professional service standards, providing leadership and training to develop staff.
  4. Ensure that legislation and external regulations and policies are implemented effectively (e.g. UKVI, UKCISA Fees etc)
  5. To ensure that consistent and accurate decisions on applications to relevant programmes are made in line with Admissions policy and best practice, whilst ensuring the quality of admissions through a thorough understanding of qualifications, entry criteria and international education systems. Checking that decisions made by other admissions team members are correct and appropriate before onward transmission with the aim of 100% accuracy within agreed deadlines.
  6. Responsible for working collaboratively with colleagues across the University to ensure internal and external admissions needs are being met, develop shared insights, priorities and activities as part of the organisational plan and strategy
  7. Provide team leadership and line management to ensure efficient, accurate work at pace and target achievement, supporting, developing and challenging teams to succeed. Be accountable for providing clarity and direction, creating a culture that motivates others to be outcome focussed and to perform effectively
  8. Deputise and provide support to the Assistant Head of Admissions in the development of policy and innovative processes, and oversee operational workload of the team with oversight of projects such as scholarships, Erasmus Mundus
  9. To support recruitment and marketing activities such as visit and open days as necessary
  10. Where appropriate to ensure that course and admissions information on the University’s and external publications and website is accurate and up to date.
