Energy Futures Lab and the Department of Electrical Engineering, with funding from EPSRC seek to hire a Programme Manager to oversee the recently awarded ‘Integrated Development of Low-carbon Energy Systems (IDLES)’ programme grant. The programme involves 15 academic investigators from 7 departments across Engineering, Natural Science and the Business School, as well as several major industry partners and SMEs, and is designed to set the agenda for the long-term evolution of modern energy systems. Across 6 interconnected Projects, the programme spans not only multiple energy sectors (gas, heat, electricity and transport fuel) but also the behaviour of individuals and organisations within the energy consuming sectors such as transport and the built environment.

The Programme Manager will have responsibility for managing activities within IDLES so as to achieve good integration of the various research topics and timely completion of tasks. They will be responsible for the management of the IDLES budget, including resource planning and review, liaising with Project Leads to ensure timely financial and performance reporting and working with IDLES researchers to maintain cohesion across the Projects via weekly Programme meetings and journal clubs. The post-holder will also lead on the initiation and coordination of IDLES events and meetings (with support from the Energy Futures Lab Communications Manager), and managing the Programme’s Management Board and Steering Committees. They will also be a key contact with EPSRC and lead on internal and external grant reporting.
Appointments will usually be made at the bottom of the scale. This is a full-time, fixed term contract until 31 October 2023. Informal enquiries from interested candidates can be made to Victoria Ebo, Doctoral & Alumni Network Manager, firstname.lastname@example.org
