Full Project Detail:
Applicants should have a strong background in one of the following areas: management science, operational research, statistics, economics or mathematics. The applicants are also expected to have studied linear programming and other optimization methodologies in their previously completed degrees.
The successful candidate will undertake theoretical and/or applied efficiency and productivity research, in particular in the nonparametric area of data envelopment analysis. Different theoretical and methodological topics are available depending on the interests of the applicant and will be discussed with the potential supervisors. Typically, the theoretical work would contribute to the development of modelling methodologies applicable to different types of organisational structure, assessment scenarios and types of data. Application-oriented work would put the problem context at the centre of research, aiming to apply and extend existing methodologies for the analysis of organisational performance and formulation of relevant policy implications. Suggested areas of application include but are not restricted to energy, water, health, banking and the public services.
The successful applicant will become a member of a thriving international research community and will be supervised by the academics in the CPP. Applicants are encouraged to discuss their interests and research agenda with Victor Podinovski (V.Podinovski@lboro.ac.uk), before applying.
