The post holder will be working in Dr Aylin Hanyaloglu’s group in the Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology (IRDB) at the Hammersmith Hospital campus of Imperial College London. Dr Hanyaloglu leads a program of research that focuses on unravelling fundamental cell biological mechanisms controlling GPCR signalling and its application to health and disease.

The post holder will also work in close collaboration with Professor. Ed Tate in the Department of Chemistry, and Professor Jan Brosens (University of Warwick). Further information about the GPCR signalling Group and research at the IRDB can be found using the following links:

The purpose of the proposed research project is to investigate the molecular mechanisms controlling spatially encoded GPCR signalling. Specifically, we have identified a novel endosomal compartment that regulates spatiotemporal signalling of distinct GPCRs, termed the very early endosome (VEE). This project will involve working with a multi-disciplinary team to address the fundamental cellular mechanisms and physiological significance of the VEE to underpin future translation.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in a discipline relevant to the post, have proven expertise in GPCR, receptor biology or membrane trafficking, molecular and cellular biology, imaging, and biochemistry, as well as publications in leading journals, which are essential criteria of the post. Applicants should be highly dedicated and enthusiastic to pursue basic research, be well organised, have very high technical and intellectual standards and be able to work effectively as part of a team and in close collaboration with other groups.

This full time post is offered full time for a fixed term of 36 months.
