The Department of Philosophy at the University of Warwick is inviting applications for an assistant professorship in moral and/or political philosophy commencing Autumn 2019.
The Department is one of the UK’s leading philosophy departments. In the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014), we were ranked 1st in the UK for the quality of its research and 4th overall.
The successful candidate will join an ambitious department that is well-regarded internationally. We are committed to a research-led approach to teaching and to providing our staff with an environment that supports developing their research and their teaching to the highest level.
We are looking for a philosopher with the ability to produce world-class research in moral and/or political philosophy and to provide an exceptional level of education to our undergraduate and postgraduate students.
We are particularly encouraging applications from candidates with research and teaching interests in an area relevant to our programme in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). The PPE programme is taught and administered collaboratively by the three contributing departments. It delivers a range of core co-taught interdisciplinary modules and subject specific modules to an outstanding cohort of undergraduate students. It is also preparing to launch an MA in PPE.
The University of Warwick is an equal opportunity employer and we welcomes applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their gender, race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age. The Department of Philosophy holds an Athena Swan Bronze award and the University of Warwick holds an institutional Silver Award: a national initiative that recognizes the advancement of gender equality, representation, progression and success for all in academia.
