WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick. We are currently leading the UK Central CAV Testbed project, which has received a significant grant to develop an urban test environment based on 80 kilometres of roads in Coventry and Birmingham. This is creating a world-leading connected infrastructure and eco-system, developing the next generation connected and autonomous (CAV) vehicles, and positioning the Midlands as a centre for cutting-edge automotive and communication technologies.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic engineer with a strong health and Safety track record in the automotive or industrial sector to help us develop and implement a comprehensive safety framework around our CAV Test bed.
This represents a significant personal challenge and opportunity for the successful candidate.
This new test bed is an opportunity for the successful candidate to lead the design process from the start, and see it through to as successful sustainable operating test bed providing a service to a broad range of stakeholders across many industry sectors.
The role will involve you gaining a thorough understanding of testing new technology within public environments by carrying out a review of existing processes, regulations and policies. This will lead to the development of a new safety policy and framework for the test bed. This will be key deliverable from the Lead Health and Safety Engineer.
You will be working with 8 major consortium partners as well as coordinating with other test beds across the Meridian framework and other public sector bodies.
