Intelligent systems employing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for complex engineering problems in the aerospace, automotive, rail, power & energy and healthcare sectors.
In an increasingly competitive world, intelligent systems are seen as central to delivering intelligent services in business, society and private life. This can be seen from intelligent factory controls, autonomous and connected vehicles, smart energy generators, predictive medicine, etc.
This PhD programme will prepare you to develop intelligent systems employing Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning for complex engineering problems in the aerospace, automotive, rail, power & energy and healthcare sectors. This includes analysing digital information and sensory data, data mining, pattern recognition, machine learning, drawing the right conclusions, and acting on them in the digital or physical world. The research will include developing fundamental theories for developing intelligent systems, the design of novel algorithms and real world applications.
Cranfield overview and Sponsor Information/Background:
The Intelligent Systems group is part of the Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Centre and has well-established links to Boeing, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Meggitt, Thales, MOD and Alstom. The IVHM Centre is now in its tenth year of operation and the Centre has grown to cover the aerospace, automotive, rail, energy, health and agricultural sectors.
