Main Purpose of the Post

The Development and Engagement section of Global Advancement is a high performing team working to maintain and enhance the University’s development and fundraising aspirations. The team are dedicated to the growth and prosperity of the University by raising awareness and showcasing University activity, developing key relationships with individuals, organisations and partners, and through raising philanthropic gifts from alumni and supporters of the University. You will be part of a team of fundraisers, relationship marketers, alumni and events professionals working collaboratively to advance the University.

The Fundraising team work to secure financial support by encouraging individuals, alumni and trusts and foundations to support the University through Philanthropy. The team work across the University to identify the needs for private support and ensure gifts are used according to the donor’s intent

With strategic direction from the Development and Alumni Relations Manager, initiate, develop and deliver a programme of volunteer activity for identifying and widening constituent volunteer opportunities across the university including, but not limited to, career support for students, assisting academic research, business relations, student recruitment, boards, committees and University fundraising initiatives.

Main Duties

  1. Work with the Head of Development and Engagement, the Development and Alumni Relations Manager, the Swansea Employability Academy, Entrepreneurship and the Colleges in developing a strategy to increase participation in the Alumni Volunteering Programme, its impact on the University and the long-term vision of volunteering to support SU.
  2. Develop and manage relationships with Alumni Volunteers, and other key contacts, to encourage stronger involvement with the University and its colleges.
  3. Develop an infrastructure across the University to support on-going and new volunteer activity and to develop and maintain good relations with key academics and professional service departments to Identify opportunities to involve notable alumni.
  4. Develop a Mentoring scheme for Alumni volunteers
  5. Devise internal and external marketing and communications plans for the recruitment of Alumni Volunteers and its expansion across the University

• Demonstrable evidence of taking pride in delivering professional services and solutions

• Demonstrable evidence of providing a caring approach to all of your customers ensuring a personalised and positive experience

Qualification: Degree and demonstrate equivalent work experience

Experience: Experience of coordinating a volunteering programme.
