The Project

The University of Essex in partnership with Aquatronic Group Management plc offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and knowledge to develop the next generation in building service pump controllers incorporating telemetry, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence to improve pump efficiency, and allow the unit to diagnose potential faults before a breakdown occurs.

This post is fixed term for 36 months and is based at Aquatronic Group’s offices in Colchester, Essex.

Duties of the post:

The duties of the post will include:

  • Establish an awareness of AGM’s working environment and gain an understanding of the problems which are to be addressed through the utilisation of Artificial Intelligence and Embedded Systems.
  • Deep dive in sensors, control systems and IoT networks alongside the project team.
  • Develop the necessary tools to develop a novel remote and secure IoT networks to capture and store the data
  • Develop novel Explicable Artificial Intelligence method to generate from data models which could be used for the predictive maintenance of the AGM equipment.
  • Conduct continual iterative testing and refinement of these models.
  • Working with the project team, design and build software which will enhance the current AGM suite of products.
  • At all stages, ensure that skills brought to and developed by the project are transferred to AGM existing skills base by conducting training exercises.
  • Publishing papers and drafting patent applications as needed.

Key Requirements:

The post holder must have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or Physics, or equivalent level of experience.
  • Experience of embedded systems programming
  • Experience with hardware and software design/development
  • Knowledge and interest in IoT
  • Java, C or C++ programming
