Mackintosh School of Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer to provide academic leadership and co-ordination and contribute to the teaching of Architectural Technology (AT) at Diploma and Masters levels.
This post will have responsibility for developing, co-ordinating and delivering the curriculum, ensuring a high-quality teaching and learning environment, as well as providing specialist input to both BArch and DipArch programmes and contributing to the integration of AT in the studio at all levels.
As well as contributing to high quality teaching, the successful candidate will also undertake research at a high level, have REF level outputs and contribute to the activity of the Mackintosh Environmental Architecture Research Unit (MEARU), bringing skills and insight to complement and enhance the work of the Unit.
A passion for teaching and studio culture is essential, as are high level research skills, including production of high-level research outputs, along with the ability to generate research funding. Ideally, you will also have significant expertise in structures and tectonics in an architectural context.
You should possess a recognised doctoral or specialised postgraduate qualification in architecture, architectural technology or a relevant discipline or be able to demonstrate exceptional comparable academic or industry / practice skills and experience. You will also have experience of teaching and curriculum development within Higher Education, and the management of academic delivery and personnel. You should have an exemplary understanding of what constitutes a high-quality learning and teaching environment, and a thorough appreciation of the administrative and logistical issues that underpin studio-based learning.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing group within the MSA, and to develop teaching, curriculum development and a research track record.
Closing date for submission of completed applications: 11th January 2019
Interviews for this post are expected to take place week commencing 28th January 2019
