The University is looking to appoint either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology, on a full time and permanent basis, available from August 2019 in the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.

The role

The post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Sport and Health Sciences will contribute to extending the research profile of Sport and Exercise Psychology at Exeter. We would welcome applicants with expertise across the spectrum in sport and exercise psychology, but also in cognitive psychology, motor control, or neuroscience.

The College of Life and Environmental Sciences brings together the excellent teaching and research of Biosciences, Geography, Psychology and Sport and Health Sciences. Sport and Health Sciences was ranked 1st in both The Complete University Guide 2019 and The Times Good University Guide 2019, 13th in the Global University rankings for Sports Science and 3rd in Ref 2014 for research quality and intensity.

The University's collegiate system, including the College of Medicine and Health, facilitates a truly interdisciplinary approach to academic innovation, research and learning. To further strengthen our activities in Sport and Health Sciences, we are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology. The appointed person will be an innovative academic committed to delivering the highest quality research and education.

The role

The post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Sport and Health Sciences will contribute to extending the research profile of Sport and Exercise Psychology at Exeter. We would welcome applicants with expertise across the spectrum in sport and exercise psychology, but also in cognitive psychology, motor control, or neuroscience.

The successful applicant will hold a PhD in sport and exercise psychology or a related area (psychology, neuroscience, human movement science). Applicants will have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in an active field of sport and exercise psychology research which is related or complementary to existing Exeter strengths. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following qualities and characteristics;  a strong record in attracting research funding, or demonstrable potential to attract such funding, teamwork skills to work in collaboration with existing group members, an active and supportive approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research that will help to foster interactions and links both within the University and externally with business and industry, the attitude and ability to engage in continuous professional development, the aptitude to develop familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning and enthusiasm for delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, in addition to the above applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong potential for research leadership with a track record in refereed publications, proven success in significant grant capture and relationships with external organisations and funders. Previous industrial experience is also welcomed.
