The English Language Centre (ELC) at the University of Liverpool in London is accredited by the British Council. In its most recent inspection by the British Council, the ELC was awarded 13 areas of strength and has subsequently been named an El Gazette Centre of Excellence 2019.
Following the launch of the London Pre-sessional in summer 2018, the University of Liverpool in London is looking forward to another successful summer with a small number of opportunities available to join our Pre-Sessional teaching team. You will join a small, supportive team, delivering EAP classes to postgraduate international students who are working specifically towards entry to Accounting and Finance Masters pathways at the London campus.
University of Liverpool in London is located in Finsbury Square, near Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations. The campus has excellent facilities (take a tour here), with Pre-Sessional teaching taking place in a small number of seminar rooms on the second and third floors.
We are looking to appoint tutors for both our 6-week and 10-week courses. The dates below are inclusive of a paid 3-day Tutor Induction:
10-week: Wednesday 26th June to Friday 6th September 2019. Students start the course on Monday 1st July.
6-week: Wednesday 24th July to Friday 6th September 2019. Students start the course on Monday 29th July.
Postholders will be responsible for delivering academic English and academic skills development to international students, advising students on their progress, and encouraging students to be autonomous learners. Teachers can expect to have 18 hours of contact time per week (including tutorials) and up to 1.5 hours of cover per week (as required). All materials are provided.
You will have qualifications which confer TEFL-Q status as set out in the British Council’s Accreditation UK handbook (available on the British Council’s website), and ideally have prior experience of teaching on pre-sessional or preparatory EAP programmes. You will have excellent organisational and time management skills and be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to variety of audiences. You will be an effective team player whilst also being able to work independently and on your own initiative.
