Finance Manager

University College London - The UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Science

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. 

The UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Science is a collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment where clinicians, engineers, allied health professionals and researchers are constantly striving for innovative approaches to treatment.

The main purpose of the role of Finance Manager is to effectively and pro-actively manage the Division’s finances. This will include forecasting, monitoring income and expenditure and providing reports detailing financial information (e.g. for use in the Division’s strategic plans).

Managing a small team, the Finance Manager will play a key role in supporting and maintaining the expansion of the academic activities of the Division. The Finance Manager will work closely with the Division Manager and Division Director to ensure the financial sustainability of the Division.

The postholder will be fully qualified (CCAB) accountant and be educated to degree level or equivalent, or have relevant experience. Experience of working in a management accounting or auditing environment, experience of working in an academic or similar institution and a record of successful line management and development of staff with proven leadership and motivational skills are essential. The postholder must possess excellent data analysis and reconciliation skills, strong organisational skills and have the ability to to explain accounting and financial concepts to non-finance staff.
