The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We invite applications for a Lectureship in Social Anthropology. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out high-quality research and contribute to teaching in the MSc in Politics, Violence and Crime and/or Social and Cultural Anthropology. This will include teaching second/third year and Masters courses in Social Anthropology and undergraduate introductory courses in social anthropology as well as developing advanced optional modules in the appointee’s area of specialisation. We seek applicants with research expertise within Social Anthropology, particularly those with regional or theoretical interests that complement the interests of existing staff in the Department of Anthropology. The position is available from September 2019.
The successful candidate will be a promising researcher with a proven record of ability to conduct high quality research which is reflected in the authorship of high quality publications or other outputs. Relevant research areas include political and/or legal anthropology. They should also possess demonstrable experience in supervision of undergraduates and masters students. Candidates must hold a PhD in Social Anthropology or a related area.
