The post holder will work on a full-time basis and undertake research in the field of big data analytics/machine learning, and record the outcome of experiments and/or field work, with a particular focus on processing and analyse large datasets such as aerial images such as from Drones, Satellite, and sensor streaming, etc. The post holder will take responsibility for delivering high quality research and development of new algorithms for analysing large scale aerial images, under the overall direction by the project principal investigator, leading and co-ordinating colleagues as required.
We are looking to appoint highly able, enthusiastic and motivated individuals wishing to work on researching and developing new algorithms for analysing and processing large-scale datasets with an application in Agriculture.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD or equivalent in Computing Science or closely related area. In-depth knowledge in research and development of scalable and robust big data and machine learning approaches for analysis and interpretation of large data sets (e.g. images) is essential. It is expected that the potential candidate has knowledge in big data processing methods for efficient data analysis (e.g. GPU/parallel and distributed computing/cloud computing).
