About The Post

Key aspects of this post include working with the course team by contributing to teaching on the BA Music Business course (with emphasis on Intellectual Property for the Entertainment Sector, or Law for Leisure, Tourism, Entertainment); serving as academic tutor for a dedicated group of students; liaising where necessary with practitioners, industry specialists and/or relevant professional bodies to ensure our courses are delivered against industry benchmarks.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Teaching on a range of undergraduate modules – the post holder will be expected to design and develop teaching material where appropriate.
  • Module leadership – to manage activities, resources and assessment. For this, experience of, and familiarity with, the VLE system such as Blackboard / Weblearn is essential.
  • Input in module monitoring, contributing to the annual monitoring of the course sitting within the wider Creative Industries and Aviation portfolio.

The post requires:

  • Effective management and leadership of a module that is core to the BA Music Business degree.
  • Direct support of the newly implemented course portfolio – desirable for the post holder to demonstrate own record in Research or Consultancy.
  • Providing a supportive learning environment for students by contributing flexibly to teaching and related activities.

We are looking for an academic with proven experience or expertise in Law for Entertainment/Music or Intellectual Property for Entertainment/Music Business.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable grounding in teaching IP, Law and their applications in the entertainment sector. Candidates will have relevant first and higher degrees to inform and support the roles. Membership of the Higher Education Academy and/or possession of a Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (or equivalent) is essential.

Candidates will have sound knowledge of appropriate professional standards; professional or business experiences; strong interpersonal, networking and communication skills; a positive attitude and a flexible, collegiate approach.

The successful candidate is expected to start work with the School as soon as possible after accepting the offer.
