We recognise that these are complex and multi-faceted areas and welcome applicants who can demonstrate experience of a range of methodological approaches and inter-disciplinarily. Some of our existing strengths are outlined in relation to the work of the Police Research and Education Network and can be found at https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/research/police-research-and-education-network/. We are looking for an outstanding candidate, to join our team who can make a significant contribution to developing the research profile, and partnership developments both domestic and international.

Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellows are permanent positions with a significant focus on research in the first three years of the appointment, to encourage the development of major projects that bring colleagues together at Northumbria and beyond.

You will hold a PhD or equivalent, and will already be developing a publication track record of exceptional quality. It is essential that you have excellent written and verbal communication skills; some relevant teaching experience; the ability to work effectively with colleagues; and the potential to attract external funding to support the future development of your research. During the first three years of the appointment, you will develop a small amount of teaching and administration, as required within a vibrant Department.
