The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health, located in the heart of Bloomsbury. The post will be based within the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health at LSHTM Keppel Street, London.

A major component of the post involves working on projects in neurology: they will join a team of three statisticians based at LSHTM, who provide statistical input within a long-standing research collaboration with the Dementia Research Centre (DRC) at the Institute of Neurology, UCL. Another major component of the post-holder’s work involves close collaboration with LSHTM Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), who run a portfolio of clinical trials, both in the UK and internationally. There will be the opportunity for methodological research related to both these roles. The post also includes teaching of postgraduate students at LSHTM.

It is essential that the successful applicant will have an MSc in statistics or equivalent, an aptitude for both applied and methodological research, good communication skills and statistical computing experience. Previous experience of participation in collaborative medical research projects is desirable. For appointment as Assistant Professor the post-holder will require a PhD along with a record of high quality publications in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with duration of research activity. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time and fixed-term for one year initially, with a strong possibility of extension.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 or Grade 7 in the range £39,304 - £52,520 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting) – dependent on appointment at Research Fellow or Assistant Professor level. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
