Do you want to be part an exciting initiative to apply behavioural science? Are you a self-motivated and sharp-minded individual with experience in research or evaluation?

Here at Cancer Research UK, we lead the way in providing engaging, evidence-based and up-to-date communications about cancer. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Health Evaluation & Research team, working to make sure that our cancer prevention and early diagnosis activities are guided by behavioural science and as effective as possible. We are looking for a skilled researcher or evaluation specialist to help us continue our best practice in health research and evaluation and support the application of behavioural science.

What will you be doing?

  • Using behavioural science to support the development and implementation of health behaviour change interventions
  • Project managing and supporting the research and evaluation of activities delivered through Cancer Research UK’s “Little helps for healthier living” partnership with Tesco, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK, ensuring that methods, analyses and communications are appropriate, high quality and have maximum impact
  • Maintaining good working knowledge of behavioural research evidence relevant to specific topics/projects
  • Preparing information, reports and materials which communicate evidence, insights and influence work programmes
  • Interpreting and communicating research and evaluation results effectively to internal and external stakeholders

Why this role?

We need an experienced researcher or evaluation specialist to help ensure our cancer prevention and early diagnosis activities are informed by relevant behavioural science, appropriately tested and rigorously evaluated, and that these findings are used to help shape future work.

You will be at the forefront of the novel application of behavioural science which we hope will make a real difference to people’s lives and contribute to our understanding of effective interventions. And you’ll have the ability to build effective working relationships across teams with a broad range of backgrounds and with external partners.

 What skills are you looking for?

The following experience and skills will help us reach our ambitious goals

  • Experience working in research or evaluation, preferably in a health-related field
  • Knowledge of behavioural science, preferably related to health behaviour change
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analysis skills
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey research and evaluation findings in an engaging way to a range of stakeholders
  • Evidence of collaborating and building effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders
