University of Oxford - MPLS Divisional Office

Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

Job Ref: 139027

MPLS Divisional Office, 9 Parks Road, Oxford

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

The Research and Planning Team in the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences divisional office seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to the role of Research Officer.

The postholder will manage and co-ordinate all internal research funding schemes which the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division (MPLS) runs or participates in; and manage sift panels for external funding schemes, on behalf of the Division or University (in line with Oxford’s ‘Co-ordinated Bids’ protocol). There is potential to develop in the role, taking the lead responsibility for initiatives and projects, including becoming an expert on GCRF, facilitating major research proposals and representing the MPLS Division at University-wide committees (e.g. the John Fell Fund).

This is a wide-ranging role, through which the postholder will gain an understanding of research across the full breadth of the MPLS Division. It involves a mix of both planned (cyclical) and responsive work: you will therefore be able to work effectively under pressure and to (often short) deadlines, to work independently, and be comfortable taking responsibility for the delivery of projects. You will be able to form effective working relationships with staff at all levels, possess good communication skills (both written and oral), and have the confidence to give challenging but constructive feedback to academics and researchers.

As part of your application you will need to upload a CV and a supporting statement, setting out explicitly how you meet the criteria in the job description.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 11 March 2019. Interviews are likely to be held during week commencing 25 March 2019.

Closing Date: 11-MAR-2019 12:00
