Brunel University London is looking to appoint an experienced engineer with excellent technical knowledge in the field of energy sustainability to join our Estates Directorate.

As part of the drive to deliver Brunel University London’s 2030 strategic vision, the Directorate of Estates is working on an exciting capital programme which includes a new Learning and Teaching Centre. There is also an ongoing programme of works to keep its buildings, many dating back to the 1960’s, updated and adapted for the evolving demands of the university’s research intensive learning and teaching activities.

Reporting to the Associate Director – Engineering Projects, the Energy Sustainability Manager will take the lead role in ensuring that the University achieves reductions in consumption of energy, water and carbon emissions and for embedding energy efficiency strategies in the development and day to day operation of its estate. In addition to supporting the Environment Committee to raise the profile of energy conservation across the University, the post holder will champion the promotion of sustainability in construction and long term maintenance projects, while protecting and enhancing the environment.

You will proactively record and monitor performance against utility targets for each building to ensure that the University remains fully compliant with the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme and the Salix/HEFCE Revolving Green Fund. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to operate successfully at an influential level across a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
