Join a unique British University in China. The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. This award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 7,000 in just 15 years.

Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality EAP teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China.  With over 100 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting over 6000 students on its Preliminary Year, Pre-Sessional and Academic Literacy Development Centre programmes.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified English for Academic Purposes teaching professionals able to offer experience and expertise in one or more of the following key fields:

Reporting to the Head of CELE, Senior Course Tutors in English for Academic Purposes typically have module convener responsibility for one or more taught modules, and as such, are very actively involved in issues around EAP curriculum design, delivery and assessment. Senior Tutors may also have leadership roles in pre-sessional, in-sessional and knowledge exchange provision. They would ideally have a proven track record of effective project management in one or more of these areas. The successful candidates will also directly line manage teams of approximately 10 individual academic staff and are responsible for carrying out classroom observations of teaching, as well as conducting annual staff performance reviews.  Delivery of teaching on credit-bearing and/or EAP/ESP courses will also be required.

Candidates should be MA in ELT/Applied Linguistics qualified (or equivalent) and should have extensive full-time EAP teaching experience.

Salary will be within the range RMB 448,297 – RMB 535,290 per annum, depending on skills and qualifications, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. An attractive package, including accommodation allowance, flights and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
