MRes or PhD Bursary (Germanic Friends)

The Friends of Germanic Studies have made available a scholarship designed to support a student who has been accepted for the Institute's MRes in Modern Languages course, and who intends to write their dissertation on a German-related topic, or who has been accepted for the MPhil/PhD degree in German literature at the Institute of Modern Languages Research.

The scholarship provides a fee waiver of up to 100% of the full-time or part-time Home/EU tuition fee, and is tenable for one year (full-time) or two years (part-time) in respect of the MRes, or three years (full-time) or five years (part-time) in respect of the MPhil/PhD.

German and Austrian Exile (Miller Studentship)

A Martin and Hannah Norbert-Miller Trust doctoral studentship is available for entry in October 2019 to graduates wishing to focus their research on German-speaking exile, preferably in the UK, with topics including literature, politics, history, sociology, migration, or the arts. The Miller Scholarship provides a fee waiver of up to 100% of the full-time or part-time Home/EU tuition fee, tenable for three or five years, plus maintenance.
