Applications are invited for an Innovate UK funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to join the team and work for a period of two years, with potential for permanent employment on completion. The successful candidate will be employed by the University but based at the CCL office in Paisley and commence with the work already started together with both the schools at Heriot-Watt University and CCL to deliver an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based new product for energy-efficient monitoring and close-control in hygro-thermal critical buildings.

The candidate is to carry out demand-driven R&D at CCL to continue with the implementation work of AI technology within CCL’s control system units, which has been ongoing for over a year. The work plan has been developed and key insights have been gained over the last year with the candidate getting on-board and implementing the steps as well as coming up with possible alternative strategies. This demands specialisation and expertise in AI technology (using neural networks or any other AI algorithms), and its implementation using JAVA programing to develop software modules embedded within the company’s control platforms.

The successful candidate will undertake the following duties towards the KTP project –

  1. Review the immediate CCL stakeholders for implementing the AI-based smart control software, take over data collection regime and develop a processed database for neural networks training.
  2. Train optimal ANN algorithms by identifying most adequate ANN architecture for given data.
  3. Execute JAVA programs implementing AI algorithms using collected data and develop functional modules within CCL’s control software and test its interface with CCL controllers.
  4. Disseminate the key findings throughout the project in terms of company’s roadshows, conference papers, journal papers, and manuals.

The successful candidate will have a first degree, minimum 2:1 in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Control Systems.
