These posts represent an exciting opportunity for ambitious individuals to join Keele University’s School of Chemical and Physical Sciences. The School is seeking to appoint two full-time lecturers in Physics starting from September 2019 or shortly thereafter. The successful candidates will join a dynamic Physics and Astrophysics section of the school, which has well-established degree programmes (including a Single Honours Physics BSc, combined Physics & Astrophysics degrees and a PhD programme) with sector-leading levels of student satisfaction, a world-class research profile in Astrophysics, and ambitious plans for further growth, both in terms of Physics research and numbers of undergraduate and postgraduate Physics students. The school is equally committed to excellence in research and teaching.

It is expected that the successful candidates will support undergraduate teaching in the Physics degree programmes and have ambitions to develop internationally leading research in a Physics area. We especially encourage applications that present plans for research that interface with, complement or strengthen current areas of excellence in applied physics research at Keele. These include activities linked with Keele Research Institutes and Science Schools: fluid dynamics, combustion, low carbon technologies, thermodynamics and heat transfer (Institute for Sustainable Futures www.keele.ac.uk/sustainable-futures); the Keele Smart  Smart Energy Network Demonstrator www.keele.ac.uk/business/businesssupport/smartenergy); biomedical nanophysics, healthcare technologies and biomedical imaging (Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine www.keele.ac.uk/istm); structural biophysics (School of Life Sciences www.keele.ac.uk/lifesci) and solid state and computational physical chemistry (School of Chemical and Physical Sciences www.keele.ac.uk/scps).

We are looking for individuals who have a strong, independent research track record, a sound plan for winning funding for their research, but who also have a strong and collegiate commitment to teaching and improving the experience of our undergraduate students. Collaboration with the industry and research with potential for REF impact cases are anticipated.

Keele University is committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN charter, and values equality and diversity across our workforce.  The School of Chemical and Physical Sciences has recently received a Bronze award. We strive to ensure that our workforce is representative of broader society, and therefore, we would actively welcome applications from women for these roles.

Keele University values equality and diversity across our workforce and to ensuring our staff community is reflective of the diversity of our student population. In support of these commitments the University welcomes applications from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds for all roles.
