About our role: As an Experienced HE Lecturer you will contribute to the progression and academic achievement of students studying the BSc Computing Technologies programme. The programme involves a wide range of technical skills across OOP, Mobile App Development, Big Data, AWS, SQL etc. It is not expected that you will be able to contribute to every module in the programme, but you will be expected to have a good breadth of skills and knowledge.

You will also be expected to contribute to widening participation activities and will play an important part in helping our Manchester campus to grow.

To be successful, you will need to be flexible and highly organised. You will also be used to working on your own initiative, without close supervision.

For the right candidate there will be opportunities for future progression in our expanding multi-campus environment.

Your focus:

  • Experience of teaching and curriculum management in more than one of the topics listed below
  • Recognised IT qualifications OR substantial professional experience covering more than one of the topics listed below
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications and/or professional certifications and/or membership of professional body at an appropriate level (e.g. MBCS, CITP, etc.)
  • PhD - desirable
  • HEA membership – desirable  
  • Lecturing experience in the HE sector and/or experience of corporate technical training

  • Web Development (using HTML 5, CSS, Java Script and PhP, SQL and MySQL)
  • Maths and Algorithms
  • Object Oriented Programming
  • Systems Analysis and Design
  • Data Modelling and SQL Language
  • Data Communication and Network Routing
  • Mobile App Design and Development (using Android Studio)
  • User Experience Design
  • Network Design and Troubleshooting
  • Cloud Computing
  • Big Data Analytics (using Apache spark using Scala)
  • Web Application Security (using PhP)
  • Cyber Security
  • Data Science
  • Designing and Developing Products for the Internet of Everything (IoE)

QA Higher Education (QAHE) works in partnership with five different UK Universities offering a range of fully accredited UK higher education programmes from foundation level through to postgraduate degrees across modern, professional campuses in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

The BSc Computing Technologies is well placed to help meet the growing demand for technology-related employment. The degree is designed to provide graduates with a broad range of competencies and skills that are relevant to the current and future job markets.  The degree will equip students with an understanding of core programming and digital technologies, together with giving them an understanding of, and an ability to apply, systems design principles and project management skills.  The degree also equips students with a strong platform in network and cyber security, together with developing skills in cloud computing, web and mobile technologies, big data analytics and user experience design.
