The Royal College of Art is the UK’s only entirely postgraduate art and design university. We are seeking to appoint a Principal Gifts Officer in the Development & Alumni Relations Office. Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumni Relations and working closely with the Vice-Chancellor, this new role will manage the cultivation and solicitation of effort involving a portfolio of the RCA’s most generous donors and prospects. The Principal Gifts Officer will build and manage relationships with this group of individuals, and it is expected that approximately 60 to 80 per cent of their time is spent beyond the four walls of the College in order to achieve this successfully. They will also build effective relationships in order to promote successful philanthropic programmes of activity between these donors and prospects, and staff across the College; this will include the development office, the rectorate, deans, faculty and other members of the RCA community.

With significant major gifts fundraising experience, including proven success in personally securing high six and seven-figure gifts in the UK and/or internationally, the successful candidate will have experience of devising sophisticated cultivation and solicitation strategies and managing with proven success a portfolio of major gifts prospects. Having gained experience in a successful and substantial fundraising campaign, they will have the capacity to apply innovative and practical problem solving skills to the challenges at hand, as well as the ability to manage priorities and to think laterally and creatively.
