We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic IT Manager to continue to build an outstanding IT capability at the Botnar Research Centre, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, University of Oxford.
As IT Manager, you will help drive the IT provision for an expanding and scientifically diverse department. You will undertake strategic planning and oversight of the Botnar Research Centre’s infrastructure, server facilities and IT support services to meet the research requirements of the centre. You will identify and lead complex IT projects from conception to completion that improve quality and efficiency of data collection, management, planning and resilience as well as build relationships, present new ideas and collaborate with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
Responsibilities will also include managing a team of IT professionals including work allocation, recruitment, training and performance, developing and maintaining documentation on all aspects of IT facilities within the Botnar Research Centre and providing line management of the IT Officer.
You will have a graduate degree in an IT-related subject or equivalent combination of training and experience as well as significant experience in organising and providing IT support for hundreds of users in heterogeneous academic environments. Outstanding communication, organisational skills and substantial experience in the administration of Windows PCs and Macs is also essential. In addition, you will have significant experience of managing and developing a team of IT professionals with diverse skillset which is able to adapt to changing demands. Strong systems administration skills on Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 onwards and Mac OS X would be desirable.
This is a full-time permanent position.
