The NIHR BioResource for Translational Research is seeking an Informatician to play a key role in research study support which underpins the NIHR BioResource's operational model. This will include: 

  • Linking of biomedical, demographic, phenotypic and Omics data that form the NIHR BioResource data assets to enable integrative research supported at both national and local levels.
  • Preparing datasets for recall based research studies for the available volunteers for national and local BioResource studies
  • Analysis, transformation of data to satisfy needs of the researchers
  • Inform data capture, analysis and formats
  • Data protection, anonymisation and security

The role will also involve helping the collaborating BRCs/CRFs in the NIHR BioResource to implement effective data frameworks and policies for their respective local BioResource centre. 

The NIHR BioResource for Translational Research provides the major nationally-accessible resource of over 100,000 volunteers from the general population and patients with common and rare diseases, all of whom are willing to participate in and support medical and experimental research studies. Volunteers will have consented to be recalled according to their genotype and/or phenotype to participate in academic and industry-led experimental medicine and clinical research studies. NIHR BioResource aims to provide a unique and powerful resource for studying disease mechanisms and investigate the links between genes, the environment, health and disease, and will add another 200,000 volunteers by the end of March 2022.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2022 in the first instance.
