Grade 7 - Full time starting salary is normally in the range £30,395 to £39,609. With potential progression once in post to £42,036 a year. 

The Department of Theology and Religion seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow whose teaching load will include at least modules in contemporary religious studies/religion in contemporary Britain and research approaches to religious studies. The post holder would preferably have a competency in Islamic Studies or Sikh Studies to undertake teaching in one of these areas. The post-holder will teach courses at a range of levels to undergraduates and postgraduates, predominantly through allocated lectures and seminars, so that the Department of Theology and Religion’s teaching objectives are met. The post holder will contribute to the design of modules with other colleagues, will plan and prepare his/her own teaching, undertake management/administration arising from teaching, and contribute to Departmental/School teaching-related activities and teaching-related administration.

Person Specification:

  • Higher degree relevant to research or teaching area or equivalent qualifications
  • High level analytical capability
  • Ability to design and deliver module materials successfully
  • Ability to assess and organise resources effectively
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management/administration processes
  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate level
  • Teaching qualification or course (completed or due to complete prior to September 2019)
  • Experience of summative assessment marking
