As a Careers Adviser your duties will include:

  • 1:1 careers guidance with students across all degree subjects alongside responsibility for a designated caseload of Schools.
  • developing and delivering innovative and interactive workshops centrally, in Schools and on modules
  • establishing and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues across the university
  • building occupational knowledge and developing relationships with employers
  • leading on team, unit or service wide initiatives

You must have a degree (or equivalent) and ideally will hold a professional qualification in careers guidance. Enterprising and self-motivated with personal impact, team and communication skills, you will have significant experience of 1-1 advice/guidance/coaching and of teaching, training or facilitating group work. You must be able to deal sensitively and productively with students, colleagues, and employers.

Alongside their school caseload in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, you will have a specific remit working alongside colleagues to plan and deliver the ‘ncl+ Career Insights Award’. This exciting and growing initiative is the university’s flagship employability programme for widening participation students.

The role of Careers Adviser is Fixed Term until April 2020. This fixed term post is to provide cover for a secondment opportunity within the team.
