Fellows are expected to prepare applications for at least one clinical research fellowship (e.g. MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship Pre Doctoral, BHF Clinical Research Training Fellowship) during their appointment.

Funding will include the applicant’s salary for up to 15 months and £10,000 for research consumables. Clinical research fellows will be appointed on Grade AMN2 of the clinical academic scale (£34,125 to £50,563). The post-holder will be offered an honorary clinical contract with Lothian Health in order to conduct clinical research and participate in clinical activities and training.

The Clinical Research Fellowship Programme will recruit a number of candidate fellows across REA3 themes. Fellows will undertake a research project relevant to REA3 research. More information can be found on the project website:

Candidates must contact the relevant clinical principal investigator prior to making an application.

Clinical Principal Investigators on REA3 are: Dr. Marc Dweck, Professor Nicholas Mills, Professor David Newby, Professor Rebecca Reynolds, Professor Rustam Salman, Professor Robert Semple, Professor Cathie Sudlow and Professor Joanna Wardlaw.

We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of gender or ethnic group. As women and members of ethnic minorities are currently under-represented in posts at this level we particularly encourage applications from members of these groups.
