The candidate will engage in a program of interdisciplinary research of their choosing, that addresses themes at the intersection of energy, environment, and public policy.

Eligibility

  • A strong undergraduate and postgraduate background in history, with a focus on the history of science and technology/science and technology studies.
  • Candidates who are not native English speakers will be required to provide evidence for their English skills (via IELTS or similar tests approved by UKVI)

Project Details

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Sustainable Practices of Research in Energy (C-INSPRE) offers a holistic educational experience tailored to the growing demand for well-rounded practitioners of renewable energy, energy policy, and environmental impact assessment. The History Department in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) is offering one doctoral studentship in the INSPRE program. The candidate will have a strong undergraduate and postgraduate background in the history of science and technology and/or science and technology studies and will engage in interdisciplinary research across all four faculties of the University of Strathclyde. The candidate will be registered in the PhD History program, supervised by Dr. Matthew N. Eisler, and co-supervised by other INSPRE principals in the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, and Strathclyde Business School. The candidate will engage in a program of interdisciplinary research of their choosing and that addresses themes at the intersection of energy, environment, and public policy.

Funding Details

This scholarship and will cover home/EU fees, and provide an annual stipend of circa £15,000 (full time) per annum. Non-EU students are eligible for this funding, but must pay the balance of international fees over EU fees.
